Noise can be absolute (randomness) or relative (to some target)

  • Absolute noise would be something we aren’t able to (note: it doesn’t mean it’s impossible, we just don’t know how to right now) correlate with any target, like a true random event (ex. a fair coin flip).
  • Relative noise is the part of a data point that’s unrelated to the current target, but could become signal if the target changes.
